6 Units Involved, Many Residents Displaced

12/2/2009 - Fire fighters remain on the scene of a two alarm fire in the 700 Block of South Duke Street that damaged at least 6 apartment units this afternoon. The fire, which is believed to have been ignited by workers in a second floor apartment, spread through the walls and ceilings of the apartment building. Several residents were in the building when the fire started, and evacuated safely. Heavy fire damage was reported in units on the second and third floors, with additional damage to first floor apartments caused by water used in fire extinguishment.
